Pimelodella

Two species only: the golden pimelodella and the 4-line pimelodella, each in Quarantined, Lightly Medicated and Non-Quarantined. These are the small end of the South American long-whiskered catfish — the ones that stay a normal fish instead of turning into a redtail. Keep them in groups of five or more or they sulk under the wood permanently.

They get sold as community catfish and they are not quite. A pimelodella is a night hunter with a mouth wider than it looks; neon tetras and juvenile shrimp go missing and you will blame the filter. Stock them with fish too big to swallow. If you want a genuinely peaceful bottom fish, buy Corydoras instead.
