AquaUltraviolet 15W UV Sterilizer Replacement Quartz Sleeves
The quartz sleeve is the component that sits between the UV lamp and the water flowing through the sterilizer chamber, and it's one of the most overlooked maintenance items in UV sterilizer upkeep. The sleeve's job is to transmit UV light efficiently while keeping water away from the lamp — but quartz that's etched, mineral-fouled, or scratched transmits significantly less UV than a clean, clear sleeve, even if it looks acceptable under normal lighting.
Over time, mineral deposits (primarily calcium carbonate) build up on the outer surface of the sleeve where it contacts the water flow, and the inner surface can develop fine scratches from improper cleaning. Both reduce UV transmittance and lower effective sterilization output without any visible indication that anything is wrong. Clean the sleeve monthly with a dilute acid solution (white vinegar works well) and replace it when etching or scratching is visible, or annually as a preventive measure.
Genuine AquaUltraviolet replacement sleeves maintain the correct wall thickness and quartz purity specification for the unit. Off-brand sleeves with lower quartz quality or incorrect dimensions can crack under thermal stress or reduce sterilization efficiency.
Compatibility: AquaUltraviolet 15W Advantage sterilizer series
Replacement interval: Annually or when etching, cloudiness, or cracking is visible
Maintenance tip: Clean monthly with white vinegar to dissolve mineral deposits before they permanently etch the surface. A sleeve you clean regularly will outlast one that's never touched between annual replacements.
