What “Lightly Medicated” means

This is the same animal as our non-quarantined listing, held briefly in our systems and given one short prophylactic course — a light treatment for ich and for internal and external worms — then observed eating in front of us before it goes home.

A light course knocks the parasite load down. It does not guarantee full removal, and we will not pretend otherwise. Ich is only killed in its free-swimming stage, and a short treatment window can miss cysts entirely; worm burdens can survive a single dose. Clearing an animal takes the full quarantine window — 40 to 90 days depending on the species — which is exactly what the Quarantined listing is for. This tier buys you a lower parasite load and a fish we have watched eat, not a cleared animal.

We condition the fish on our end. Every animal we medicate is brought back onto prepared food on our own systems and is eating before it leaves — in practice it is rare for a lightly medicated fish to ship out and arrive sick. Do the same at your end: get it eating in your aquarium before you count it settled.

When it ships

The “Storm” pattern is a captive-bred mutation, not something you’d ever find on a wild reef — selective breeding scrambles the classic three white bars of an Amphiprion ocellaris into swirling, marbled bands that bleed into the orange body, and no two fish come out quite the same. It’s a visually dramatic departure from the standard Ocellaris, and it holds up well under reef lighting because the broken white pattern catches blue spectrum differently than solid bars do.

Because it’s tank-raised over multiple generations, this fish never formed a dependency on a host anemone the way its wild cousins do — it’ll happily settle into a power head nozzle, a coral head, or just cruise the rockwork without needing a host to feel at home. Every other behavior that makes a standard Ocellaris such a reliable reef fish still applies here: peaceful disposition toward most species, aggressive only toward other clownfish in too small a space, and completely immune to its own anemone’s sting via the mucus coating on its skin.

The Storm pattern tends to develop and deepen as the fish ages — juvenile specimens can look quite different at 6 months than they do at 2 years, which is either an appeal or a consideration depending on how you feel about predictability in color.
