Course

You found the fish. Our job is to make sure it does not cost you your tank.

Buy your fish anywhere — another store, an online vendor, a fellow hobbyist. Ship it to us or drop it off, and it goes through the same quarantine program as our own quarantined-to-order livestock, run by the marine biologist who wrote the protocol.

What the course is

  • Isolated on arrival. Your fish never shares water with anything else in the building.
  • Treated prophylactically. A real, finished course dosed for what import and transport stress actually cause — and if anything turns up mid-course, treatment is included. Charging extra to treat what you hired us to find would be indefensible.
  • Observed until boring. It leaves when it has been symptom-free and behaving normally long enough that watching it stops being interesting. Boring is the goal.
  • Eating prepared foods. It comes home with a demonstrated feeding response on food you can actually buy.

The guarantees

The Clean Release Guarantee. Your fish leaves quarantine eating prepared food and symptom-free — or it stays until it is, at no extra charge. We do not release an animal that is not ready, and you are not billed for the time it takes to get there.

The 30-Day Health Guarantee. If a fish we quarantined dies of disease within 30 days of going home, we refund the quarantine fee in full and credit half of it toward a replacement.

With a claim we ask for a photo or short video and a current water test. What it does not cover, stated plainly rather than buried: aggression or predation by tankmates, jumping, equipment or power failure, parameters outside the range on your release sheet, medication given without talking to us first, and any fish moved into a system other than the one named at intake. We guarantee our work; we cannot guarantee someone else's water.

Priced on the value protected

A $45 clownfish and a $2,400 angel are not the same job — the angel gets more observation, dedicated system space, and far more careful handling — and they are not remotely the same stake. So the course prices on the animal's declared value, and the rate falls as a percentage as the value rises, the way insurance does. Your purchase invoice sets the declared value; it keeps the number honest in both directions, and it is what the guarantee refunds against.

Declared value, per animal 4-week course
Under $100 $128.99
$100–$299 $178.99
$300–$749 $278.99
$750–$1,499 $448.99
$1,500–$2,999 $698.99
$3,000 and up from $998.99 — quoted, roughly 20% of declared value

Cohorts, corals and holds

  • Trio — 3 fish staged together — $328.99 (about $110 each; applies when every animal is under $100 in value)
  • Full stocking — 6 fish — $598.99 (about $100 each; same rule)
  • Coral or invert — pest dip plus 14-day observation — $38.99 per piece, or $98.99 for three
  • Extended medical hold — $38.99 per week beyond week four, only when an animal genuinely needs longer

Quarantine capacity is a real, physical limit — overfilling isolated systems defeats the entire point — so slots are genuinely finite each month. We may also decline an animal at intake: some species do not quarantine well, and some are better refused than risked. We would rather say so up front.

Livestock orders over $350 ship free as standard, and the maintenance side of the business lives on the services overview.

Nobody else in this market sells quarantine, because nobody else runs the systems for it. We do — it is the same program our own stock goes through, and your fish is welcome in it.
